Head Coach Al Orio

Coach Al Orio is entering his 40thyear of coaching high school football. He was a captain of Deptford’s first Championship team in 1975.  After high school, Coach Orio spent 18 months at the United States Military Academy, before three knee injuries earned him an honorable discharge.  He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982, earning a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s in Education.  Coach Orio has been teaching and coaching in South Jersey for the past 21 years.  He is beginning his second tenue as Deptford’s Head Coach.  Coach Orio’s resume is highlighted with VPSL Championships, CPSL Championships as well as New England Championships.  Over his career in South Jersey, Coach Orio has coached in 13 NJSIAA playoffs as well as three of the four State Championships at Deptford High School.  Coach Orio has been awarded “Coach of the Year Honors” four times in three different states, is a member of the Deptford High School Hall of Fame and the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame.

Assistant Head CoachPete Orio

Coach Pete Orio is entering his 32 year of coaching high school football. He was a captain of Deptford’s 81team.  Coach Orio has been teaching and coaching in South Jersey for the past 20 years.  Coach Orio began his coaching career at Gateway High School, where he coached the offensive and defensive lines.  He then coached in Georgia, where he continued to develop his craft coaching offensive and defensive lines. Coach Orio spent five seasons in Connecticut coaching quarter backs and being the offensive coordinator. After leaving Connecticut, he returned to Georgia as quarter back coach and offensive coordinator.  During his first tenure at Deptford, Coach Orio spent ten seasons as Deptford’s offensive coordinator.  Before returning to Deptford for the second time Coach Orio was the offensive coordinator at Kingsway High School. He then coached three seasons at West Deptford High School, where he coached quarterbacks and tight ends.  In his second tenure at Deptford, Coach Orio will be focused on developing the offense and supporting the defensive.

Assistant CoachMatt Baney

Matt Baney is entering his 12thyear of coaching high school football.  He is a graduate of Deptford High School and was a Captain of Deptford’s 2001 team.  Coach Baney began his coaching career at Highland High School, where he coached the Freshman Team.  He then coached freshman football at Deptford for a season and then went onto become the Wide Receiver and Special Team’s coach for the following two seasons.  He then coached eight seasons at Pennsauken High School, where he coached Wide Receivers and Quarterbacks.  In his final coaching stint before returning home, he was the offensive coordinator at Pennsauken High School.  At Deptford he will be coaching the Wide Receivers and Special Teams.

Assistant CoachBrandon Williams

Brandon Williams is entering his 6thyear of coaching High School Football.  He is a graduate of Deptford High School and was a Captain of Deptford’s 2006 team.  Coach Williams began his coaching career at Gateway High School, where he coached the Linebackers and running backs. He then returned to Deptford three years ago where he coached running backs, defensive ends and linebackers. At Deptford this season he will be coaching the tight ends, fullbacks and defensive ends.  He will also be assisting with coordinating the defense.

Assistant Coach – Raymond Orio

Coach Raymond Orio is entering his 8thyear of coaching high school football.  He is a graduate of Deptford High School and was a Captain of Deptford’s 2006 team.  He began his coaching at Bridgton Academyin North Bridgton, Maine, where he was recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach. At The Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut, Coach Orio was the offensive line coach and defensive coordinator.  During his stint at Avon Old Farms School (Avon,Connecticut) Coach Orio served as the defensive line and defensive backs coach, as well as special teams coordinator. Coach Orio continued to refine his craft at Savannah Country Day School (Savannah, Georgia).  In Savannah he coached the offensive line and was both the special teams and offensive coordinator. At Deptford he will be coaching quarterbacks and linebackers.

Assistant Coach – Nick Cappolina

Coach Cappolina is entering his 11thyear of coaching high school football.  He is a graduate of Deptford High School and was a Captain of Deptford’s 2002 team.  Coach Cappolina began his coaching career at Williams College (Williamstown, Massachusetts) where he coached tight ends.  During his first tenure at Deptford, he coached offensive and defensive lines. He then went onto coaching at Clearview High School, where he coached wide receivers and defensive backs.  He then coached wide receivers and defensive line at Paulsboro High School.  In his final coaching stint before returning home, Coach Cappolina coached offensive and defensive line and was the special teams coordinator at Kingsway High School.  At Deptford he will be coaching offensive and defensive line.

Assistant Coach – CJ Rothmaller

CJ Rothmaller is entering his 3rdyear of coaching high school football.  He is a graduate of Deptford High School and was a Captain of Deptford’s 2006 team.  Coach Rothmaller began his coaching career with the Deptford Midget Football Program.  For the past two seasons, Coach Rothmaller has been coach the running backs and defensive backs at all three levels at Deptford High School.  Coach Rothmaller has also been an important part of the weightlifting program. This year at Deptford he will be coaching again the running backs, and defensive backs.

Assistant Coach – DaJuane Collins

DaJuane Collins is entering his 6thyear of coaching high school football.  He is a graduate of Deptford High School and was a Captain of Deptford’s 2003 team.  Coach Collins began his coaching career at Deptford High School, where he coached all three levels.  During his four coaching years at Deptford he coached Varsity defensive line, running backs and defensive backs and was Special Teams Coordinator. Before returning to Deptford, DaJuane spent two years coaching the running backs, defensive backs and offensive coordinator at Woodbury High School. In coming home, DaJuane will be coaching the running backs and defensive backs.
